your default browser.
- Voice commands? How can I use them?
- SmartButler v1.16.008 (beta) or later supports voice commands. You can ask
"what time is it?" and SmartButler will tell you current time. You can add a new
voice command "open microsoft word", which will start Microsoft Word editor. If
you know scripting you can run scripts (which can do anything you want) via
voice etc.

- Can I use my Bluetooth headset with SmartButler?
- Yes, you can. See for more details here.
- Can SmartButler check my Gmail account?
- Yes. Select "POP3/SSL" mail server type, set mail server to pop.gmail.com,
port number to 995.
- How to change the voice or language of my SmartButler?
- To change the default voice or language of your SmartButler for
incoming messages or reading the clipboard, you should go to the
menu "Settings"/"Speech" page where you can choose the voice, tone,
speed and volume that you want.
The default voice is used for reading the clipboard; it is assigned
to every new user who sends a message to you.
- How to change voice or language for specific user/contact?
- If you want to listen to incoming messages from specific user
in a different voice than default one you should go to menu
"Settings"/"Users" page and edit properties of the user to change
his voice.
- How can I change character of SmartButler if I am fed up with
Merlin?
- You can change it in the "Settings"/"General" page.
You may need to download new characters from the Internet. Click
"Download" button at "General" page.
- What should I do if I'd like to have more new voices and
languages for SmartButler to use?
- You may need to download and install new Text-to-Speech Engines
(voices and languages). See our download section.
- Why does SmartButler not inform me about new incoming
mail?
- You should add the POP3 or Hotmail account that you wish to
check.
If you connected to the Internet via modem (dial-up connection) you
need to select "I connected to the Internet via modem" in the
"Settings" / "Check mail" page.
- Why does SmartButler not read incoming messages?
- There are several possible reasons:
- your unregistered version of SmartButler has expired;
- you have modified or deleted default script for messages reading
(click "Restore Defaults" button in the "Settings"/"Threads"
page);
- Trillian Pro users may need to download and enable "SmartButler plug-in for Trillian
Pro"
